I think that if we think of Christmas in New York, we all come to mind the famous tree in Rockefeller Center, the one so big and bright that it appears in all American Christmas movies.

Rockefeller Center, es un complejo de edificios de la ciudad neoyorquina. Éste se sitúa en Midtown Manhattan, lugar entre la quinta y sexta avenida. Llegadas estas fechas, el complejo, se viste de Navidad, de entre todos los elementos destaca, el famoso árbol de 21-30 m que preside la plaza y la gran pista de patinaje sobre hielo. Esta tradición data de 1931. A mediados de noviembre se coloca el árbol, pero no es hasta el miércoles siguiente de acción de gracias, cuando se enciende, este año es el miércoles 2 de diciembre. El alcalde de la ciudad, junto con a alguna celebridad, es el encargado de encenderlo. Esta ceremonia se conoce como Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting y se retrasmite por televisión, en la NBC, todos los años.
